The show's main focus is the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. All the characters are involved in some way with the town and/or the supernatural phenomena surrounding it. Although the show is based on the books of the same name, many of the characters are changed, though the main storylines are kept. Beginning from season one, ten characters received star billing, with one being written out, and another being promoted.

Nina Dobrev portrays Elena Gilbert, the main protagonist, as well as Katherine Pierce, the main antagonist.[2] Elena is quickly involved in a love triangle between two vampires, which serves as one of the main focal points of the show. Paul Wesley portrays Stefan Salvatore,[3] one of the vampire brothers who is good-hearted and affectionate, the opposite of his brother Damon Salvatore portrayed by Ian Somerhalder[4], the malevolent vampire brother who serves as the show's anti-hero.

Other cast members include Steven R. McQueen who portrays Jeremy Gilbert,[5] Elena's younger brother, later revealed to be her cousin, with Sara Canning acting as Jeremy and Elena's aunt and legal guardian, Jenna Sommers.[6] Katerina Graham portrays Bonnie Bennett,[7] Elena's best friend and a witch. Candice Accola portrays Caroline Forbes,[8] Elena's insecure friend and occasional rival. Zach Roerig portrays Matt Donovan,[9] Elena's childhood friend and ex-boyfriend, who later becomes romantically involved with Caroline. Michael Trevino portrays Tyler Lockwood,[10] a werewolf, Jeremy's rival, Matt's best friend and son of the mayor of Mystic Falls. Kayla Ewell portrayed Vicki Donovan,[11] Matt's troubled older sister and girlfriend of Tyler and then Jeremy. She was written out of the show in the seventh episode of the first season, after being turned into a vampire by Damon and killed by Stefan. Soon afterwards Matthew Davis joined the cast as Alaric Saltzman,[12] a history teacher, vampire hunter, and love interest for Jenna.

The series focuses on a group of surgical interns, residents, and the various physicians who serve as their mentors in their professional and personal lives. The show's producers used a "color-blind casting" technique, resulting in a racially diverse cast. All roles for Grey's Anatomy are cast without the characters' races being pre-specified, in keeping with creator Shonda Rhimes' vision of diversity.[12] The five characters who are first introduced as interns are Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), George O'Malley (T. R. Knight), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh). They progress to residency after their first year in the surgical program. They are initially mentored by Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), a general surgeon who becomes the hospital's Chief Resident and later becomes an attending general surgeon. The surgical program is run by Chief of Surgery Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) who has a pre-existing personal relationship with Meredith, having had an affair with her mother when Meredith was a child. In Webber's employ are attending physicians Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) and Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), who specialize in neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery respectively. Derek is introduced as Meredith's love interest, while Preston begins a relationship with Cristina.

Introduced in the show's second season are OB/GYN and neonatal surgeon Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh), plastic surgeon Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), orthopedic surgeon Callie Torres (Sara Ramírez). Addison is Derek's wife who arrives in Seattle seeking reconciliation with him. Mark is Derek's former best friend, who aided the breakdown of his marriage by having an affair with Addison. Callie is introduced as a love-interest for George, whom she later marries, but ultimately divorces. Addison departs the show after the third season, as Kate Walsh left to star in spin-off Private Practice, but continues to make occasional guest appearances in Grey's Anatomy. The penultimate episode of the third season introduces intern Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh), Meredith's (half)sister. The finale of season three sees Burke's exit from the show, after leaving Cristina at the altar.

Early in the fourth season Cristina learns from Derek that Preston has resigned from Seattle Grace. Soon thereafter she is devastated when Burke receives a most prestigious award for cardiothoracic surgery and does not even mention her in his acceptance notes, since she had been critical in assisting in—and even performing—all of his surgeries during his recovery. Cardiothoracic surgeon Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith) becomes a main character in the fourth season, after appearing as a recurring character in seasons two and three. During the fifth season, Hahn departs from the series. Two new characters are introduced: trauma surgeon Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw). Owen became a love-interest for Cristina, while Arizona became a love-interest for Callie. Season five also introduces the recurring character Dr. Sadie Harris (Melissa George), who had a friendship with Meredith years before. Sadie was expected to become a series regular but George's contract was not renewed and her character was subsequently written out of the show.[13]

George O'Malley dies in the show's sixth season, and Izzie departs following the breakdown of her relationship with Alex. Attending Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) is introduced as a cardiothoracic surgeon from Owen's past and later becomes a main character. Several recurring characters are introduced, as Seattle Grace merges with Mercy West hospital. Residents Reed Adamson (Nora Zehetner), Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Charles Percy (Robert Baker) all transfer to Seattle Grace. Anesthesiologist Dr. Ben Warren (Jason George) is also introduced as a love-interest for Bailey. The season six finale sees Doctors Adamson and Percy depart the series following a fatal shooting.

In the upcoming season seven, Jackson and April have both been upgraded to starring status.

Departures
Isaiah Washington

In October 2006, Washington allegedly insulted Knight during an on-set altercation with Dempsey. Afterwards, Knight came out about his sexual orientation, following the attendant media speculation. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called on Washington to apologize.[14] On June 7, 2007, ABC announced they had decided not to renew Washington's Grey's Anatomy contract.[15] Washington has stated that he was not angered but "saddened" by his firing. He said that if he was asked to make a cameo appearance on the show, he would not hesitate to say "yes".[16] Washington's image was used in advertisements for the May 9, 2008 episode "The Becoming". After this aired, Washington's attorney Peter Nelson contacted ABC and SAG and cited this as an unlawful use of his client's image. His publicist, Howard Bragman, pointed out to the Hollywood Reporter that "they have the rights of the character to advance the story, but not the image" and stated he expected this to result in a "financial settlement".

Recurring characters in the fifth season include Patricia Belcher as prosecutor Caroline Julian; Ryan O'Neal as Max Brennan, the father of Temperance and Russ; Ty Panitz as Parker Booth, Seeley Booth's son; Brendan Fehr as Jared Booth, Seeley's younger brother; Tiffany Hines as Michelle Welton, the daughter of one of Cam's previous relationships, who is living with Cam as her father has died (she was portrayed by Dana Davis in season 4); Diedrich Bader as Andrew Hacker, the FBI Assistant Director and Seeley's boss. All the interns from the previous season return. The interns include Dr. Clark Edison portrayed by Eugene Byrd, Daisy Wick portrayed by Carla Gallo, Vincent Nigel-Murray portrayed by Ryan Cartwright, Wendell Bray portrayed by Michael Grant Terry, Colin Fisher portrayed by Joel Moore, and Arastoo Vaziri portayed by Pej Vahdat. Stephen Fry returns as Dr. Gordon Wyatt in "The Dwarf in the Dirt", while former series regular Eric Millegan returns as Zack Addy in the 100th episode, "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole". Emily Deschanel's sister Zooey Deschanel makes a guest appearance where she plays a distant relative of Brennan in "The Goop on the Girl". Deirdre Lovejoy returns as Heather Taffet aka the Gravedigger in "The Boy with the Answer" where she is found guilty of her crimes. Billy Gibbons returns as Angela's father in the season finale episode, "The Beginning in the End".

Episodes

Key plotlines in the fifth season include the 100th episode (directed by David Boreanaz), which flashes back to Booth and Brennan's first assignment that showcases their original relationship, which leads Booth to confess his true feelings to Brennan. The 100th episode also features the return of Eric Millegan as Zack Addy. Angela and Hodgins rekindle their love after spending some quality time together in a jail cell, and decide to get married. Heather Taffet aka the Gravedigger is put on trial for her crimes, and the team's strong case against her leads to a conviction where she is finally put away, but warns Brennan "that it's not over". In the season finale, many of the characters begin to embark on trips that will take them out of the country for one year, intending to return and pick things up where they left off one year from that day. Temperance, along with Daisy Wick, go to the Maluku Islands to study a full set of interspecies hominid remains that could be a crucial link in the evolutionary chain. Booth returns to the Army as a Sergeant Major to train soldiers in apprehending insurgents. Meanwhile newlywed Angela and Hodgins decide to travel.

The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom serve as executive producers on the show. It premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007.

Set in Pasadena, California, the show is about two fictional Caltech geniuses, one an experimental physicist (Leonard Hofstadter) and the other a theoretical physicist (Sheldon Cooper), who live across the hall from an attractive blonde waitress and aspiring actress (Penny). Leonard and Sheldon's geekiness and intellect are contrasted for comic effect with Penny's social skills and common sense.[3][4] An aerospace engineer, non-PHD, (Howard Wolowitz) and a particle astrophysicist (Rajesh Koothrappali) are their equally geeky and socially awkward co-workers and friends.

The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions.[5] In August 2009, the sitcom won the best comedy series TCA award and Jim Parsons won the award for individual achievement in comedy.[6]

When the third season premiered on September 21, 2009, it ranked as CBS's highest-rated show of that evening in the adults 18–49 demographic (4.6/10), along with a then series-high 12.83 million viewers.[7] On May 19, 2010, it was announced that CBS would be moving the show to Thursdays at 8:00 ET for the 2010–2011 schedule. The season premiere will air on September 23, 2010.

Katy Perry's breasts -- and song -- have been yanked from "Sesame Street" ... after the show began receiving complaints like, "DUDE MY SON SAW THIS AND GOT A BONER WTTTTTTTTTF."

Katy shot a segment for the show -- which was supposed to air on New Year's Eve -- in which she sings a cleaned-up version of her song, "Hot N Cold" with Elmo.

The song made its way to YouTube Monday and racked up nearly a million views. But some parents started complaining her cleavage was too front and center. We've learned producers have decided not to air the song on the show.

Among the parental comments:

-- "You can practically see her t*ts. That's some wonderful children's programming."
-- "they're gonna have to rename it cleavage avenue"
-- "my kid wants milk now"

Fact is ... what looks like Katy's bare chest is actually covered in flesh-colored mesh that goes all the way to her neck.

Bishop Eddie Long was scheduled to give an interview today during the Tom Joyner Morning Show, but after all the scandal involving sexual accusations, he failed to show up.

The lawsuit against the bishop now counts three plaintiffs. The bishop has made national media headlines after a sex scandal. Three Georgia men accused Eddie Long of having abused his high position to force them into sexual relationships. These acts allegedly happened a few years ago, when the men were 16 of age.
Although he didn't honor the invitation today, bishop Eddie Long addressed the Tom Joyner Morning Show through his lawyer Craig Gillen :" Let me be clear. The charges against me and New Birth are false. I've been through the storm and my faith has sustained me." The lawyer also stated that his client strongly denies all these accusations and finally took the blame for Eddie Bishop's no-show in the program on himself.

If you've had long enough to pick apart the latest "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" TV spot, sit tight because Warner Bros. hopes to have a newly edited set of clips ready to show you this week. Our last look at the film pretty much amounted to a Death Eater death march all over Harry, Ron and Hermione, and given what we know about the contents of the series' final book (don't worry, no spoilers here), we don't expect to see any lighter moments when a new trailer hits Wednesday, September 22.

The forecast for the new trailer comes straight from WB sources speaking to ComingSoon.net. The trailer rollout thus far as been right on schedule leading up to the film's November 19 release date, this one should keep their tease mojo pumping.

David Yates will be taking Harry and his friends through the ringer for this film, and with two installments breaking it up, he's got extra room to squeeze in more action straight from J.K. Rowling's tale. Whether this next trailer will feature as much smack talk from Lord Voldemort or fearful facial expressions from the HP kids in peril as the last one did may not be something we'll know until Wednesday, but it's a fair bet that we can expect to see some more of the same, maybe with a few surprises. Ultimately, it's all up to WB; we've already seen a building come down, Harry on his back scared out of his mind and Voldemort say that he's got Harry's heart, though, so I don't know how much bleaker it can get.

Hell's Kitchen Season 8

Watch Hell's Kitchen Season 8 now! Let me give one single reason why you need to watch this episode. This is very cooL!


Remember when Hell's Kitchen used to be about cooking? Okay, maybe not cooking, exactly, but is seems like past contestants have had the actual ability to prepare and serve a decent meal. This season, it seems like the producers not only went out of their way to cast the most amazing group of misfits, but they even conspired to keep the worst of the worst on the show.

War is the theme of Season 8 and it looks like it could get bloody.

The Hell's Kitchen voiceover man called this the "most devious" season ever but frankly, I don't think there's a contestant here bright enough to be called devious. Loathsome, short tempered, delusional and reactive, yes, but not devious.

The two-hour season premiere began with each chef being asked to prepare their signature dish. Now, if I was going to be on Hell's Kitchen, I'd watch the past few seasons so I'd know that this is how it always begins. And yet, Emily shows up in a dress that can barely contain her ample-ness and Sabrina shows up in high-heeled boots. It's the guys against the girls in a showdown that begins with an unheard of win-win, but that doesn't last long. Antonia serves a plate of brown-grey stewish looking slop that makes everyone actually wince when they taste it. Wow, that bad, huh? She's becomes the tiebreaker that gives the guys their first win and she folds under the pressure. Literally. After complaining about a hideous headache, Antonia passes out cold and is taken to the hospital never to return. (If anyone has proof of what happened to her, I'd love to see it. I've seen rumors but nothing more.)

Jean-Philippe isn't on the eighth season, but it's not because he was "fired" or anything: he was merely overseas helping to open a new Gordon Ramsay restaurant.

As to whether or not he's gay, the network didn't know – and I was unable to track him down to ask.


Q: I recently saw a promo for a new romantic drama show called Lonestar, about an obviously egocentric man with two wives and two separate lives. This reminds me of a show that Sean Hayes was reportedly working on called Bicoastal featuring a similar.
